I have a friend who says his landlord is making everyone in the complex get rid of their grills. Not even allowed to store away in their storage unit. Also they have to rid of their plants and umbrellas. I hope my landlord doesn’t do that. My balcony is my heaven. I have a camp stove and rocket stove for Commifornia power outages.

DO NOT COMPLY. The stoves I have are only 16 inches high and could be stored nearly anywhere. These leftist States are going to be the biggest death traps of all in the end. It is not going to be possible to co-exist with those people eventually because they will make that impossible.

I know! I’m in northern Commifornia and expect a DEW any day now.

I told my friend to store it in his apartment. Take the propane off and store it somewhere cuz when they turn our power off they want us helpless. He thought about it and said “you’re right”. So he’s brainstorming how to keep it. I laughed, you’ll be the only guy cooking food in the neighborhood.

Et! I L💖VED this! I think I can make a stove out of an old turkey fryer. I have a boatload of old world Milwaukee 3rd street bricks as well . I'm trying to figure out emergency indoor heating with no fireplace. This is probably going to be a pretty rough winter. Uuuuuhg! Your ideas were great!

I just hope it inspires people who aren't ready to get on the stick. I bought my stoves after the wake up call in February 2021 here. My electricity was off for nearly 4 days in single degree cold. I heard other people in the area had it off twice that long. There was so much ice and snow that few here even tried to drive on it. I grew up in North Texas driving on that shit so it did not stop me from getting out. My SUV made the first tracks on the road that morning! There is no ability to remove any of that in Texas. Its there until it all melts on its own.

I remember THAT super fridged no power in Texas ordeal. I felt so bad for Ya'll ! I supposed you guys don't have snowplows just laying around :)

I'm still keeping the option open of selling & running away. ... Gotta have dreams!

Weather like that is such a great rarity in most of the State there has never been any investment in snow and ice removal. In my late teens, right when I was a new driver, North Texas had a bunch of freak weather like this. I learned to drive on ice when I was learning to drive. Once I had to drive from Plano (far north Dallas) all the way to San Marcos in that crap when I was in college. About a 4 hour drive when things are good! It didn't even start to let up until nearly Austin. If you ever need a snow driver I'm your man!

ANOTHER great thing about Texas... NO Ice removal! THAT means...no salt , which means NO rusted out vehicles. :) Gotta love it! My 4wheel drive truck sits rusted out in my driveway. I mean , It dropped the driveshaft, gas tank & lines rusted away type of Rusted out,. .. SAD but TRUE.

Hahaha, I not only need a snow Driver, but a mechanic AND a wood stove installer Oh, & A roofer now since the storms came thru last week! LOLZ :)

Would be easier to run away.. ...just saying .... Hehehe

What I would give to have a place to put such a thing - and money to acquire the needed elements! Haha! But I will surely keep this in mind when the SHTF. Thanks!

If you could find some old bricks , which are usually not too hard to come by, that one is easy to do. It could sit nearly anywhere outside. Even an apartment balcony in an emergency situation. The only additional thing needed is a little hardware cloth to go between the burning chamber and air intake.

Well, being homeless and all, having a small spot on the floor of the balconyless studio apartment of a hoarder friend as My "home..." LOL! Barely enough room to sleep, let alone build a stove... Haha! But yeah, when SHTF, I imagine I will improvise. Thanks!

Just how would I do that? I am elderly, disabled (psoriatic arthritis with bone spurs in My thumbs – typing hurts, but I do it anyway, slowly), denied assistance, lost everything, destitute, and homeless, crashing on friends’ floors and using Their web on My 10+ year old laptop. Beyond that, I give very high probability I am targeted and have been most of My life:

For those who are muy rico: Sky Huddleston and his dad have designed, prototyped and manufactured The Liberator, a rocket heater that is EPA certified. It burns at 99.9% efficiency. It is available in three snazzy powdercoatings. It can even burn pellets too and is yours for less than 3K$ @ rocketheater.com.

Now you tell us Lolz! I had pallets of pellets cuz I did animal rescue for many many years & used it as kitty litter becuz clay litter is sooo bad for the respatory system of animals.

Well, Good to know. Thank You.

Tangentially related, I think you can burn out a stump by cutting a hole down through the top and then in to the center from the side down low ... making it a rocket stove.

Did your hippie friends vent it outside? I'm currently trying to figure out a heating source that doesn't emit smoke.

Expand full comment
Et's Cinema PsychoMasonica's avatar

It would have to be vented out but that's pretty easy. You can buy all the components for stoves online. Up in your neck of the woods there are probably many people who install this stuff for a living and would do it all correctly.

For some reason, I wasn't thinking STOVES. I was thinking Bricks & ...OH never mind. MY poor brain. Your RIGHT, I need a woodburning STOVE :)

Expand full comment
Klaus Hubbertz's avatar

Driest wood available ONLY. Combustion is smoke-free IF combustibles and fresh air-flow have the correct ratio. ALWAYS keep enough fresh air flowing !! Which means: NEVER choke the stove !!. Good luck and bon appetit !!

just fyi, wood burning emits quite a bit of CO (Carbon Monoxide)

Expand full comment
Et's Cinema PsychoMasonica's avatar

If wood stoves are properly vented CO is not an issue. Its best to get professional help to see that chimneys are properly installed.
